Artist Info

The Album 'Innovation' Prime Movements is an artist, located in Bristol, UK, specialising in oldskool style dance music from 1990 onwards. I am currently associated with Bassquake Recordings, an internet based record label run by Matt Robinson and Oliver Shah (AKA Dark Forces and Kinetic Science). I have been producing since the latter half of 1999 using basic music making software such as Fast Tracker 2.08, Acid 2.0, Fruityloops 3.0, Propellerheads' Reason, T-Racks 24, Recycle and Cool Edit Pro 1.2. So far I have had one album release with mp3.com entitled ‘Innovation’, a selection of breakbeat/oldskool oriented tracks 1991 to 1994 style. You can purchase this album at a low price from my artist page at mp3.com http://www.mp3.com/PrimeMovements where you can also download some mp3s of my other works. To view a list of some of the other mp3.com artists (including those on Bassquake Recordings) producing great sounding dance music visit the links page.

Recently I have been experimenting with different styles quite a bit, and have produced various trance and house pieces incorporating many different influences. I have also moved in to producing ambient and down tempo breakbeat style pieces, all centred around melodics with minimal use of atmospherics and effects. I don’t currently have any studio equipment so tend to use various softsynths and sampled sounds/loops to produce my music. I find Sonic Foundry’s Acid to be particularly useful as a sequencer and great for producing original sounding loop based stuff and Reason, developed by Propellerheads, is a superb all in one virtual studio, brilliant for producing professional sounding music without the need for advanced musical knowledge. As well as my own productions I have also done a few remixes for other artists on AcidPlanet.com such as Liquidspyder and Artificial Reality. I enjoy remixing and see it as a way of putting my own slant on another artist’s ideas, great for when I have little inspiration myself.
