Mixes
Welcome to the mixes section of the site. Here you will find classic mixes in all genres which you can download or stream in lo-fi (28.8k real audio). I have chosen a selection of my favourite mixes from over the past decade, details of each mix is listed along with the options to listen. Please note that I do not intend to supply any of these files in CD quality mp3 format, for one thing I don’t have enough web space to handle mp3s and it is also illegal and detrimental to the music industry as a whole. If you want any of the tunes played here then I recommend that you try and purchase them via online record stores such as i-tunes. Although many of these tracks are quite rare they are not completely unobtainable, there are stores out there specialising in classic dance music. I will be uploading more mixes on a regular basis (possibly every 2-3 months) so please check back regularly when you have the time.

Retrospective House Mix

John Digweed

1993

"Superb classic progressive house mix from back in the day, full of mindblowing dancefloor devastators that will definitely get your feet tapping. The mix starts out fairly soft and melancholy and then builds up to a harder climax, great Djing through and through from one of the UK’s finest. This may be a bit slow by today’s standards but it certainly takes you back, to a time when classic house anthems were in abundance."

Slipmatt

1997

"The number one UK hardcore Dj 'Slipmatt' brings you the finest selection of uplifting '92 anthems here in this 60 minute long mix. Starting of with some of the better known 'happy' tunes of the era, then moving onto some of the harder, lesser known tracks and back into some classic anthems again. The mixing here is absolutely phenomenal and tunes are scratched and blended in to each other quickly and abruptly in classic Slipmatt quick-cut style. Well worth listening to if you're into your '92 stuff!"

Classic Progressive House

Prime Movements

2002

"A collection of the finest progressive house moments from the past decade mixed by myself using mp3 mixing software. Like I say, I'm not a Dj so the mixing isn't exactly mindblowing, but it's not bad for someone who's only been at it for about 2 weeks. Here you have some of my favourite prog. tracks of all time and a few rarer ones thrown in to balance out the number of all time anthems. Also you have some harder, more techno based stuff from Sourmash and a bit of classic progressive breakbeat from Dee Patten, so there should be a bit of something for everybody."

New Style Oldskool

Prime Movements

2002

"With the ever increasing number of new oldskool hardcore style tracks being produced at the moment I thought it was about time to put a mix up of some of the best unreleased material from the past year or two. These are all mixed from mp3 files in the same way as the mix above and the tracklisting is available as part of the Real Audio clip information. Here you have a selection of harder 160bpm+ tracks from Matt Robinson's sadly defunct Bassquake label and a few more recent offerings from Dark Forces, Teknotik and myself among others, plus a hard-hitting exclusive remix of 'Roller Blade' by Jedi & Stormtrooper."

New Style Oldskool 2 New!

Prime Movements

2002

"Getting to grips with mixing mp3s now although I haven't got an extra soundcard at the moment so it's all done with the bpm counters in Traktor, apologies for any mistimed drops. However I do think that this is very good considering I'm doing it without headphones, a credit to the program as much as anything. Anyway here's another fine selection of the newest breakbeat hardcore tracks around, just for you! Some tracks by myself and more from Kinetic Science, Dj Rushout, Electric Tribe, Stargazer and the rest. Check the details of the Real Audio file for the entire tracklisting. All hard, fast & banging 160bpm stuff which seems to be the order of the day at present. Hope you enjoy it!"

Universe 1992 New!

Dj Die & Carl Cox

1992

"Shout going out to Jaz for encoding this wicked set for me, this is very good stuff mate! Hate to say it but I hadn't even heard this mix up until a few months ago, a blinding set from Dj Die and Coxy at Universe back in 1992 when hardcore was absolutely buzzin' and exploding. Loads of frenetic hoover action on this one with a few booming jungle techno stompers and a slight touch of piano. A hard '92 set, no time to catch your breath with this one, also fantastic mixing from Dj Die at the beginning. I don't know all that much about this tape so any info would be really appreciated, not exactly sure where Carl Cox takes over here sounds like full on back to back mixing and bloody good it is too. Listen out for some wicked tunes by Noise Factory, Alpha Wave, NRG, Hedgehog Affair, Egyptian Empire and loads loads more!"
